Suggestion needed for EVAC-U8 smoke hood replacement

Bought some of these years ago and now I'm looking for a "like" or better replacement since these were supposedly recalled....or so I am hearing via interweb.
Has to be housed in a compact protective pkge as to withstand abuse from travelling.

wouldn't mind having a scba (at home), but I'd be using these exclusively for travel (hotel, subway, etc....).
