looks good. just make sure to inspect your limbs periodicly. some people swear by split limb bows i dont care for them ive seen 3 explode on people ive also seen a solid limb bow explode so they are not all immune to it but it does seem like split limbs have more problems.
Many real good beginner bows out there, check out Bowies they are even the Sportsman over in Busley. To answer your question about Parker, DO NOT cut them short! They are VERY good bows.
ASnd do NOT start off trying to set your bow at 70+ lbs. If you are going to be killing 3-D targets and paper 45 to 50 lbs is plenty! Learn to shoot get comfortable with whatever bow you purchase. Buy good quality arrows that are cut and setup for your pull weight and draw length! With todays bows there is just NO need to get over 60 to 65 lbs.
I hunt with a Parker and my bow is set at 62 lbs. And it kills deer DEAD! And yes it kills small does BUT it does pretty well on BIG ones too!
Here is a pic just incase there are doubters!
+1 on the recurve.
I picked up a discontinued PSE #55 that I wouldn't sell for anything! I think I paid just over $100 for the bow. I'd had a Bear compound that I never could get adjusted right. My next bow will be a wood longbow though, maybe #35 for bowfishing.
