I need to buy a new suitcase soon. I travel somewhat frequently but not enough to justify something really nice or expensive. I only need it big enough to fit a complete ACU Uniform and a few pairs of Civilian clothes. Either online or local purchase is an option. I know there are a few brands on some of the LEO/MIL discount sites but don't know which brands are better than others.

    Any suggestions?

may depend on your clothing size and what you consider a few pairs of civilian clothes, but I can pack for a few days out of my eagle creek carry on.

I believe massey's still carries the line locally. Have had it for several years now and been banged around through quite a few airports w/ no issues other than a little cosmetic abrasion.

I would suggest TUMI. These are rugged and light.

+1 on the TUMI stuff. I have a TUMI wallet and a few suitcases and carry-on type things. They are seriously the best. A good place to look is overstock.com - they often have suitcases on sale at sometimes over half off.

Another vote for TUMI. I have a bunch of their Ducati collection and they hold up to quite a bit of abuse! I did find a T-Tech 4 wheel carry on at Marshall's for $89. So deals can be found.

Id say before searching online, go to your local Ross, Michaels, or those smaller retail chain clothing stores. I scored a TUMI carry on bag for almost half the price. I was told it was a "out of season" style but who cares.

Good thread, I am in search for my first quality large duffle bag, something to keep work clothes desperate from good clothes. All I've ever used was an offshore bag.

I will start looking at Tumi based off all the recommendations. Unless I score a deal as mentioned, I may have to save up for one.

    Thanks for the input

I use a carry on hard back case I bought from costco, been to Mexico with it about 7 times along with numerous cities. So far so good. It's light, has 4 wheels, and fits the over compartment perfectly. Also for bigger luggage, I use a samsonite hard case or an older soft case. Both are reliable. Both available at costco or sams club. I wouldn't mind a tumi hard back, but it's just not in my budget considering the other bags have been working so well.

The Pelican 1510 has worked out excellent for me. I travel to the Middle East 5 times a year and back, and the 1510 is big enough to carry 3 changes of clothes and 35 cans of Skoal, plus odds and ends. As you would expect, its pelican tough and carry-on approved. Also, you can get it for about 150 if you dont get all the organizers for it and just get the plain case. What more can I say, it's a pelican case. If you trust them to protect your firearms, then how could the suit cases be bad.

Yup. I agree. Eagle creek carry on, laptop bag and I'm good for all first world countries. I travel a lot for work and am gone for a week or more at a time. Packing envelops also keep my clothes nicely organized and wrinkle free.

Take a look at onebag.com for packing tips. Check all the airlines you want to fly and make sure your carry on meets their requirements.

I don't see a need to ever check in a bag with how I pack except for severe cold weather locations.

Always look for bags with two big wheels and are made to be pulled along like a hand truck. They have some that are 4 wheels but they break more often than not because of how weak the wheels are. I see this at airports all the time.

That's a good idea. I am going on a four night trip in August and it's 25 there and 25 back for checked luggage. I might just see about a small carryon.

Do these same brands go for duffle bags? Need about a 36", roller, water proof(at least resistant), and a divider to divide good clothes/work clothes.

I see some on amazon with good reviews for pretty cheap, almost too cheap.
