Interesting video's about tactics the police can use in certain situations. The thread about daiquiri shops and alcohol inspired me to post these vids. I am not against the police or a tinfoil hat wearer, I just am curious to see what the reactions to these videos will be on this site. I do think that there are some good ideas in these videos. They are long videos so please devote about 45 mins for the first video and about 45 mins for the last set (9 mins each). The first one is kind of corny at parts and seems like it was made by the ACLU. I do not condone any of these illegal activities.

This second video set is awesome. It is a lecture by a defense attorney followed by a detective stating why you shouldn't talk to the police without a lawyer. The detective's part is very interesting. The second video is DEFFINITELY worth watching. The lawyer is a little high strung, but is worth watching. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

The one with the lawyer and detective was excellent. I watched all of it then told my family about it at dinner. Pretty much confirms what I already knew: police lie, cheat, and use psychological tactics to get people to suspend their right to STFU.

    They are GREAT videos!

As someone here said once, and I loosely quote, "If they want to get you, they are going to get you".

    They are very educational.

not watching them cause I dont have the time, but any cop worth his job knows what he can and cant do. Theres no law that says we cant lie to the bad guys... if he decides to start talking or consent to search, that is his right.

I'm willing to bet most of the members on this board dont have to worry about this, cause you wont let yourself get put in a situation like that anyway.

Just to be clear, I don't have a problem with police using psychological tactics! Bad guys should be passing around these videos, not just us.

Defeating these tactics are so simple. Demand a lawyer and shut up.

I don't know if this is intentional, but you come across as having a really adversarial attitude where law enforcement is concerned.

so why do you want the bad guys to have info to help them stay out of jail where they can be a bigger threat to you and yours?

I really don't think that people doing the kinds of crime that threaten me and my family watch youtube a whole lot and have the discipline to use the advice in the videos. A bunch of kids smoking pot in a house really doesn't impact me a whole lot. Now, if they were stealing my **** or wrecked into me while under the influence then they would be a threat.

I have not watched the above videos nor intend too.
I watch the First 48 pretty regularly and it always amazes me that very few of them ask for a lawyer. It is like they have no clue of how the system works etc... I would rather see them all go to jail; but the worst is when they get off because of something that was avoidable.
We don't know if this guy was guilty or not, society might be safer if this guy was given a lawyer

I show these videos to good people, whether or not they abide by the law.

Many laws are stupid and changed the role of LEO from being one who "watches over the people, now they watch the people."

Not all good people follow the law, not all laws are good, some laws deserve to be broken or simply not followed.

Just my opinion. I don't respect a LOT of laws, but I always respect LEOs who are doing their jobs...those that do not abuse their discretion or 'the people' for the sake of enforcing laws, rather than looking out for citizens in society.

I don't want bad people, those that seek to harm others, to escape justice. I do want civil disobedience to be tolerated, and I do want good people to be left alone.

I might believe that if it were true.

It's close though! Quickest way to get a law changed is to enforce a law that inconveniences lawmakers.

That would be -far- more accurate.

This statement really got me thinking. That's not necessarily true. I mean this is a GUN forum. One of the most talked about topics is using guns for self defense.
So let's say someone does use their gun for self defense. Do you talk to the police and explain that it was self defense and hope they let you walk? Or do you keep your mouth shut and let the cops think you are a criminal worthy of prosecution? After watching those videos, I think I'd be better off keeping my mouth shut.

Cops lie. people lie. cops dont trust anyone, so why should anyone trust a cop? that is why these rules are in place, to protect the citizan from the state and to protect the state from the citizan.
