Not sure if this is the right place for this, if not, mods please move.

I have been looking, searching and emailing. but have yet to get an answer.

First pay check of the year, I noticed more federal taxes coming out of my check.
Myself, and everyone I know also got back less taxes on our return from last year.

Now I understood the Bush tax cuts only went away on the top 0.5%

I know we had events such as the fiscal cliff deal, and probably more I am unaware of.
So why doesn't anyone publish this information? I personally think it is a big dea. Does any one else?

    Does anyone else know wth?

Even though your "taxes" the didn't change, your social security went up 2% and another part went up almost the same amount. Resulting in, basically, a 4% tax increase for everyone.

Even for the Democrats core voter base. But, of course, they blame the Republicans and bush....

I'm paying roughly $120/mo more in to FICO, based on what I see on my pay-checks. I didn't check over the rest of it with a fine-toothed comb, but that went from $140/2 weeks to $200/2 weeks.

Well, this sucks. I wonder what the minimum cost of a marriage and divorce are between two like-minded consensual parties.

No one publishing?!? You need to change your news sources. I heard about it 10 times a day, everyday for the last 2 months of the 2012. Turn on some conservative talk radio and Fox News. If your news sources didn't tell you that EVERYONE was getting a tax increase, not just the evil rich, don't you wonder what else they are not telling you?

My work emailed everyone at the beginning of the year and stated that our paychecks would be smaller and gave us the figures. 2% more on social security and roughly 2% more on other taxes.

We were told our 2% pay-raise was countered by our increase in health-insurance cost and the new taxes, for a net loss.

Actually, my news source is fox. I don't get to watch it much so rely on reading it mostly.

no raise. if we get any raises, it is after tax season for some strange reason. Considering we are not in the tax business. I guess they wait to check the bottom line after taxes. LOL

Did you get a raise? That will result in more tax withheld ;)
The pay-increase would only be be taxed more on amount in the new tax bracket. So, if the brackets look like this:
    0-1000 - 10%
    1000-3000 - 20%
    3000-5000 - 30%
And you made 3500 you would pay 10% on the first thousand, 20% on the next two thousand, and 30% on the remaining 500.

In the end, a pay increase (without a tax increase, which we did have on SS and something else) would yield to you making more money and paying more taxes, but a net increase in take-home pay.
