Shouldn't the Louisiana shrimp festival only have Louisiana shrimp?

Should but vendors are going to buy the cheapest they can, whether it's La or Foreign dumped into an ice chest and sold as La....
I think some tariffs on imported shrimp may help local shrimpers. Shrimp is not a necessity. Local shrimp is still far cheaper than almost all options of beef.

He tested 5 out of 12. Why didn’t he test the other 7? They may have said its imported but the article didn’t say why. Or may be they were the Large invasive species, his test would show those as foreign swimps.
Or the vendors were just conning the public. Sad

This is certainly a slap in the face to festival goers, shrimpers, and Louisiana culture, but to be fair, there is no explicit requirement on the Festival website application to use "only" Louisiana shrimp. See below:

FOOD VENDORS: Open to sellers or resellers of food products. Vendors will be allowed to sell FOUR entrees and TWO sides, per booth space. Entrees may include: pork, beef, pulled pork, ribs, sausage, brisket, hamburgers, po-boys, shrimp, crab, fish, crawfish, chicken, turkey, etc. however cooked, prepared or served. Side items include: French fries, curly fries, butterfly fries, sweet potato fries, tater tots, onion strips, onion rings, candy, cookies, cakes, pies, egg rolls, beans and rice, fried rice, noodles, pickles, soup, gumbo, and salad. “Kabobs” and “on a stick” are considered the same. Final approval on ALL food items must be received from the Festival.

Should it have been implied? Absolutely! For Christ sake; it's called the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival. Should it have been mandated? Probably! Should these vendors have lied about the origins of their shrimp (knowing they were using imported)? Positively not! That is blatant fraud! They should be penalized for that offense.

Lessons to be learned here for ALL cultural festivals going forward. Hopefully, the Louisiana Culture and Tourism Board will understand how embarrassing this is and act.
