Has anyone done the online app?
Is it quicker? Do you send the money right away? Or do they send email for you to pay?

I heard that you don't send money right away but not sure

Face to face at HQ is definitely faster. Do fingerprints, pay, etc. there. I applied online in December and 3 months later I am still waiting. (In background check they tell me and I have nothing on my record other than a divorce 25+ years ago.)

With online app, once accepted, you get an email for payment and can pay online via credit card. It took me almost a month to get that email. Also worth noting is that you don't need passport photos as they use the one from you LA Drivers License.

The online system is new...and state run.

Do yourself a favor and just take a day to go up in person.

1/4 applied
1/5 submitted prints via mail
3/4 RETURNED. I submitted my DD214 per their request, but since it was not a full discharge but a release from temporary active duty back to RESERVE duty (National Guard) no discharge status listed. Resubmitted with notes and submitted my NGB22 (honorable discharge from the Louisiana National Guard).

Now I wait and see if I went back to the end of the line, or if they get to it quickly. 60 days and counting, but at least when it was returned I saw the notes where they received and attached my prints.

3/11 emailed to confirm paperwork was all acceptable.
3/25 forwarded unanswered email and again politely asked for some guidance.
3/29 application accepted
3/30 payment submitted and accepted

Now we wait some more. Emailing them every few weeks ses to be the only way to light a fire under their asses, and I hate being "that guy" but politely waiting sure doesn't seam to be getting any results.

received email that it was accepted with payment link - 3/18
received email that application was approved - 3/31

Now to hope the new permit arrived before the current one expires in April....

My daughter is ticked as is a good friend. Both sent their apps in about 12/18/2015. Both are model citizens and my friend is a deputy sheriff. As of yesterday, neither of them have been entered into the computer.

It is insane that it takes this long to get a permit processed in LA. TX is doing twice as many permits in less than a third of the time it takes LASP to even get one entered in the computer system

This online crap geez. So when I got pay email and payment was accepted then you get another email after the payment accepted email saying approved 10-15 days for permit. **** I thought payment accepted was last part. Just got the approved email today.

Get comfortable, that's not much different from mine.

Prior military, overseas tour, three changes of address in 15 years. I originally submitted my app January 4th. Just got my link to pay a week ago.
