Did the LEO mean in a vehicle or on person? As I understand it, this is correct regarding vehicles, though I still think it stupid.Yesterday, I had an LEO tell me that my LA CHP did not allow me to carry a loaded handgun. I could carry a pistol, but it is illegal to have a loaded magazine.
Straight from the horse's mouth, or maybe the other end.

A few months ago I stopped in the Hammond Academy to pick up a few things. I went to check out at customer service being that was the only open register with someone working. I set down a box of ammo and two pmags and the girl said she wouldn't check me out. I thought she was kidding so I laughed it off a little and she said "no I'm serious". When I asked her why she said "you look like you planning on shootin people up!!". As if that wasn't bad enough she went over to her couple of coworker/friends behind the counter and told them to come witness me buying it incase something like that happened they would know who did it. I was really pretty embarrassed being that there was a line of other customers behind me at this point and she was making this scene. I was in disbelief of the whole situation and caught off guard but hindsight I should have reported her to a manager. I mean you freaking work at Academy who has a pretty significant portion of the store that has a gun/ammo/hunting section...clearly you are bound to have sold at least some other person something of the sort!! Best part is it was 2 ar mags and a box of 9mm ammo, if she would have had even the slightest common sense to know the two didn't even go together. To this day it pisses me off that I didn't say anything back.

Yeah I would have made her feel really small. I can stand that kind of stupid. I had the guy at WalMart trying to justify their idiot policy that once you buy a product they sell you you have to be escorted to your vehicle. I eventually asked if he new if hardware would have any simiauto ball peen.

"someone unloaded a 9-clip"
It may have been mentioned here already, but a term I hear often that grates on my nerves is "crack barrel" when referring to a break action single shot.

Such as who in greater NOLA area? Thanks in advance.I would recommend a QUALITY CHP course (even if you are not particularly looking to CCW). Try to take one that is NOT NRA basic pistol. In those classes, if they are doing them correctly it is unlikely that you will get as much or as correct legal info. Try to find an instructor near you who teaches the LSP 9 hour version that has a lot more legal info in it.

The only instructors that can issue a certificate to submit to LSP in order to receive a CHP are P O S T and NRA Instructors and both should be covering the LA. Legal Requirements.
Now if you were comparing the shooting requirements of a Louisiana P O S T Firearms Instructor to a NRA Instructor it would be a totally different story.
