    What would be different?

    I don't think we are on the same page.

    If he/she is doing everything but getting the certificate, it's the same class and material as the people taking it for "credit."

    My error. I see what you're saying. I was, indeed on a different page ................ I thought you were saying that all CHP classes are the same.

    But like others have said working within the law is much better that working outside of it! National Reciprocity, would be very nice, if it ever makes it all the way thru the process. After all we are law abiding citizens and not subjects yet!

    I would recommend the permit. As with anything else I guess it takes time to get adjusted to carrying and I can tell you I have probably spent too money much trying to get the right gun and holster but I think I have finally figured it out. I don't carry to be cool or tough, but todays society seems to require personal protection. I really didn't think the cost was outrageous and both my wife and I actually enjoyed the training. I think I would rather open carry but why bring that attention on myself?
