This is a 20” heavy barrel AR-15 made by Olympic Arms. The serial number indicates it was made in early-mid 1994, before the ban was passed/signed on 9/13/94. I’m tempted to put it on gunbroker since these pre-ban rifles are highly sought after in ban areas where they can be grandfathered in. But I’m not sure I want that hassle so here we are. I bought this rifle from a friend and fellow collector late last year. My friend was a collector who bought a lot of guns as the Clinton AWB was going into effect. I assume this was for investment purposes as most were unfired or never left the safe. This gun was purchased by him in June of 1994. He purchased it from a dealer so I assume he bought it new. Since purchasing this gun I have not fired it so I can’t tell you how well it shoots but he spoke highly of it. It doesn’t look like it saw a lot of use as the condition is very good. In addition to the heavy barrel it has rifle length handguards, an A2 style rear sight system and an A2 buttstock. I looked over the barrel but couldn’t find any marking as to the twist rate. The unique pistol grip is original to the gun and includes finger grooves and a sliding door for storage. It has the A2 birdcage flash hider and does have a bayonet lug (again, it’s pre-94 AWB). It comes with (2) Adventureland 30rd magazines. Click on the thumbnail pictures to see the full resolution image for greater detail.
