Value of Colt AR-15

I'm negotiating to buy/trade for an old Colt AR-15 . Triangular style handguard , etc . Virtually unfired . ( <30 rds ) Origional box and papers .
What's the realistic value of this thing ? I'm guessing about $1500 or so ?

Go to www.louderthanwords.us and there is/was one in the classified in like condition for $1000. You can buy with confidence for that seller as well.

I saw some on GUNBROKER for $1500 - $2000 . That's what I'm basing my guess on . I'm not able to pay anything near that . Luckily , the guy has no use for the rifle and doesn't really know what it's worth either .

I don't really need it , I would just buy it as an investment . IF I'm able to score a sweet deal that is .
