I have a young black female friend that going to have a baby. I asked her if she was going to give her child a real name or a bunch of letters thrown together. She started laughing and said her baby was going to have a real name just like everyone in her family. Her name is Ashley.

Had a girl at work named Lathucher. Anyone want to take a crack at how it was pronounced?

LaTasha, yes, not making it up at all.
My wife is a public school teacher, you should see her roll some years. When she did student teaching in EBR public schools, I couldn't pronounce half of the little heathens' names.

My wife is a school teacher and she's heard some pretty funny ones. The ones that stuck with me were the girls named Chlamydia and Clitoris.

I was in my unit off duty one day so heard another officer calling a query for a license check on A-C-Q-U-A-N-E-T-T-E, Jones common spelling. Named after hair spray, got to love it.

My sister was teaching up in Angie and there was a sub one day who got flustered with what she thought was a sassy young student, kept telling her when she would call the girl's name and the girl would correct her that "We don't address students as 'Miss,' April." The full-time teacher across the hall assured her that the girl's name was indeed Missapril.
