    It depends on how you pig hunt. If you're shooting across a field I'd go 16", if you're short-range/stalking/brush hunting/trap-shooting I'd go 8" if suppressed and 10-12" if not suppressed. They are designed for full powder burn at about 9" and you lose 50fps per 1" under 16".

    At 10.5" you'd still have enough juice with supersonics for ethical shots on deer and pigs at 100yds, and about 70yds with subsonics.

    I have a ruger bolt action 300bo suppressed . It’s a cheap gun without many thrills , the scope and the suppressor each cost more then the actual gun . It gets the job done quietly and it’s fun to shoot . It’s the only bolt gun I own that doesn’t bruise your shoulder.
