    It's looks like a sporterized Lee Enfield. Can you post some better pictures of the stamping on the receiver? Can't really make it out. There were a number of a variations to that particular rifle but I've never seen one one with the forend cut so short

    No collector value but a tough rifle. All of the British commonwealths used this type of rifle at one time or another. Wars and skirmishes all over the globe. No telling where it’s been. 303 Ammo can still be found but don’t know how expensive it may be.
