    what is your preferred ammo choice?

    i went to the academy today and got the monarch 9mm steel ammo for my g/f's baby eagle. i got these for target rounds and just for shooting whenever. i also got some federal hollow points for the stay in the truck mag. i wanted some hollow points for my 44 as well so i opted for the cci blazers. the federal and the blazers look like a pretty good hollow point and im thinking about making a box-o-truth to test out different ammo. here is a list of ammo i normally shoot winchester and remington at the range and i just wanted to try out some others.

    let the discussion begin......

    In my 9mm, I keep 18 147 gr. +P+ Talons,
    In .45 its the 230 gr. Ranger (RA45T).

    Blazers are good for target practice, But in a revolver, I have found that the aluminum cases swell a good bit and it requires a good amount of force to get them to extract, but in 9mm and 45 auto no problems.

    If the federal H.P.'s are Hydra-Shok's thats a good round. The most important part is that you dont but a box of 20 rounds, and load the mag up and never test fire your weapon with them because they are "too expensive" for target shooting, as some guns are more finicky than others. My G17 and Cor-bon JHP's did not get along.

    Cheapest crap possible. So that means monarch 9mm at academy :D
    Blazer I think is the cheapest .45

    But for protection it would have to be Federal HST.

    You might want to come by and get some of the 147gr Gold Dots. That's the "approved" round now.

    .

    they need to make up their mind! didnt they stop issuing the rangers because they were -too- good? I'll come get some if you can slide me a few extra. Giving exactly enough is kinda silly, if one rolls under a peice of furniture I freak out. I need to call and see about getting one of those orange guns, getting my unit this week.
