Country singer Willie Nelson unveiled an eight-foot statue of himself in front of the Austin City Limits Studio in Austin, TX on Friday.
Organizers of the event insisted that they hadn’t chosen the date deliberately to commemorate Nelson’s long-time advocacy of marijuana legalization, but once it was brought to their attention, they played along by setting the time of the unveiling at precisely 4:20 PM.
During the ceremony, Nelson sang his latest song, “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die,” and according to the Associated Press, “Fellow singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson congratulated Nelson, who thanked the Texas city as marijuana smoke wafted through the crowd.”
