Just getting back into shooting, and I have a lot of room to improve which means I have a lot of shooting to do. Looking for some decent quality, bargain priced ammo for my 9mm pistol. Looking for approximately 1,000 rounds, but willing to go + / - if I can get a better rate.

Any recommendations from ye sages of the range?

I can work some fundamentals with a .22 target pistol, but my goal is to increase my comfort level with the 9mm.

I am not sure what you consider a bargain price. You should check out ammoman or tactical defense solutions or surplusammo. They all have this in bulk.

unless you live in Covington. They seemed to have raised the price of their ammo. 100 round 9mm WWB $24.95 (+- a few cents)

    Same in Gonzales.

The federal 50 packs are under $10 per 50 still. I think that's the cheapest brass cased 9mm you will find.

Cabela's in Gonzales was still having a sale on the Herter's last time I was in there. It's not online but if you go back to the area right before the gun counter you'll see one of those wooden bins full of ammo. They had 7.62x39, .223 in small black & white boxes and 9mm was in yellowish boxes. I was after the 7.62 so I don't really remember how much the 9mm was, but, the 7.62 was only $4/20. I think the 9mm was in 50rd boxes.

Federal from Walmart is the cheapest I've found, $9.47 a box. Under 10 bucks ... and it's brass!

Couldn't find any Federal at Wally World on College, just Remington for $23.97 for 100. On line the Best deal I could find was at Surplusammo, 1000 for $189 + $35 shipping. Thanks for the tip Charliepapa, Cabela's FTW. Herter's steel case 115 gr FMJ, $8.99 for 50.

Picked up a bunch, and looking forward to some range time. Probably not the cleanest shooting ammo out there, so I'll be sure to do a breakdown and clean when I get back. Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate the tips!

The WWB value pack is back at $23.97. The 50rd box is $13.99. :curse:

And for some reason I've NEVER seen this magical Federal ammo at the Covington Walmart. I wonder why they don't carry it?
