WW1 and WW2 Austrian Steyr M95/30 Nazi-Marked 8x56R Straight Pull Matching #s
History of the rifle as far as I can tell: Made in 1917, used in WW1, and then in 1930 the barrel was cut shorter and rechambered to 8x56R cartridge noted with an "S" barrel marking. It was reblued at some point. There is one Waffenamt WaA4 on the stock. The numbers match. It was purchased at a Baton Rouge gun show in the early 1990s, full of cosmoline.
Included are 20 rounds of 8x56R, 10 in 2 clips. The loose rounds are a bit corroded (see pics), but the rounds in the clips seem fine. Nazi marked ammo box, 1939 manufacture.
As for the Nazi Waffenamt WaA4 stamp, I can't guarantee that it's real. There are photos proving that SS used these rifles, but there is no way to prove the authenticity of the stamp. If it is real, the gun was brought into service at a Berlin arsenal between 1937-1939.
