Lately I've become interested in why tomahawks were developed. Obviously, they were used as weapons, but so was everything else up to and including sharpened sticks. Wiki says they were invented by the Algonquin's as a general purpose tool. It had to have a lot of utility for them to go through the trouble to make them. A ball head club was probably a lighter and faster weapon than a tomahawk.
