I'm headed to Combes, TX for work. Are there any places down I-10 West towards Houston or down I-59 or Expressway 77 I need to know about or stop by?

    Gun places, food, etc.?

Clean bathrooms on exit 92 off I-10. Can't open carry in Texas without a Texas CHL. State line rest area is probably shut down due to the flooding earlier. Be safe.

This is true, but chp will cover this. Also the Motorist protection act allows anyone to carry concealed to and from their residence (home, apartment, condo, hotel, camper, ect) and their automobile. Also that includes place of business. I'm sure there a lot of ifs and buts in there so double check those laws if you need to apply them. Also with the open carry for permit holders going into effect this year it appeared to me last time I was in Dallas businesses were posting signs so if you plan on asking for forgiveness instead of premission in places I would strongly advise against it and if you do dont get made.

In this instance, carrying refers to anywhere the firearm is accessible, but does not allow you to carry concealed on your person without a Louisiana CHP or Texas CHL.

Thats not my interpretation. The motorist act requires properly holstered concealment to and from for non chp'ers, because it is a crime for them to oc a handgun. When I read through it I thought it was interesting how they were careful to give the motorist the benefit of the doubt. The big deal that I could stand some more understanding is I believe they have two seperate laws on banning cc and oc on private property. And you need to know the difference if you are gonna carry places like malls, resturants, office buildings, ect.

Please show me where it requires the firearm to be concealed in a holster on your person.

    Edit -

The only thing I see is that it must be concealed inside the vehicle or while directly en route to the vehicle.

By the way, this has gotten far off the OP's topic, so I digress.

A little but its gun laws on a gun site in a state in which op is traveling. I think we are ok.

I still say the Bucees pissers are top notch. The "farm to market" highways are nice too posted speed limits are usually 75mph for a two lane ruaral hwy.
