Well as we knew it would eventually happen even academy has now adjusted its ammo prices to the new norm. Just a couple months ago I purchased a 200rd box of .45 acp Winchester white box for $65. Two weeks ago that same box I paid $84.99 for. Now that same box is listed on Academy’s website for $109.99.

    Average prices of common calibers:

    9mm .30 per round
    .45acp .55 per round
    5.56 .60 per round
    .22lr .13 per round !!

these are a few I remember off the top of my head. The website is currently down for maintenance.

I decided to look after stopping at the Harahan academy and picking up my 2 box limit of .22lr. I purchased 2 boxes of 50ct Aguila super extra 38gr copper plated hollow points for a total of $13.06 That’s an absurd price for 100 rounds
of .22lr but I guess now it is what it is.

This really has me thinking. We knew to expect a 3% to 15% price increase from the ammo companies but why did .22lr go up almost 200%? .22lr used to be .05-.06 per round and now it’s priced at a crazy .13 per round.
In March of this year I remember going to academy before things got really bad and buy a bunch of boxes of 9mm blazer brass and federal champion for $9.99 which comes out to .19 per round. So why the increase to .30 per round over 50%?

Still better than some of the crazies that are trying to get $2.00 a round for 308 match ammo.
I absolutely agree and unfortunately I don’t have a cabellas or bass pro near by so for my academy is my only affordable option for ammo. But damn man .45 acp has surely become a pricey round. I remember getting upset paying more than .30 per round and now I buy all I can if I can find it around .50

That ammo is comparable to CCI MINI MAGS. So not far off

About the only rounds I have seen still sitting on the shelves are 28ga shotgun shells.
I did find 2 boxes of 12ga 7.5 shot and 1 box of 20ga 7.5 steel shot at Walmart.
I do shoot 28ga but already have a stack plus some Brenneke slugs for it.
Academy didn't get any ammo this week since it comes in from Texas and the roads and bridges were closed due to icy conditions.

Academy by me got all of its ammo deliveries this week and didn’t skip a beat. Even got in an extra one today although they didn’t have much of anything on it.

This is all planned. Make shooting so expensive that most people can not afford it. After a few generations interest in shooting drops off and makes it much easier to regulate guns. Guns are not illegal in Europe. You just have to be rich to shoot over there.

We can print money and make everyone rich here in America.

I just paid $35(including tax) for 2 boxes of steel case 9mm at the Harahan Academy. I can’t wait to see the price of brass cased!
Last week, I paid $80 total for the 120 round .223 box.
I have been picking up ammo for friends at a rate of 2 for you and 1 for me. Now with the 2 box limit I will start keeping both boxes. These ammo hunts are getting old for me. The higher the price and lower the limit, the less it’s worth driving all over South Louisiana.

Walmart still has the best prices on 22 Ammo. Since it’s a rifle round they still carry it.

i am well stocked now, but was my norm to hit the ammo section whenever I was in Wally World.

I also shoot a 28 ga and do sometimes see them at WalMart, really the only place close for ammo now. I did stock up several years ago, when I honestly think they were mispricing it too low. I cleaned them out a few times on that one. normally it is much more expensive than 12ga.
