From what I’ve read in the past, omegas are built better than rolex. There was some kinda space program that Rolex failed but omega passed.
    Tomato vs tomato.

They're both super well made. The movements are similar. You couldn't go wrong with either. With Rolex, you pay a very high premium for the name compared to comparable Omegas.

For example, I bought the Seamaster 300M which compares to the Submariner.

My G-Shock keeps pretty accurate time.

Just heard on the Newell Normand show that people don’t have the right to reserve spots since it is a public event on public land. If people want a privatized event, they have to do what Austin recommended and pay to get in the stands. I love being right.

    Dont leave out Breitling Austin.

All three are the only Swiss Certified movements....Breitling is for when you want a step up from a nice Omega, but arent 65 and up needing an old person watch. :)

Now I do have a Rolex that still runs. I picked it up for about $10 at the "haji-shop" outside the PX in Camp Victory in Baghdad. I like it better than the $10 Breitling.
HAHA, I brought back a matching Rolex set for $20USD from the bazaar at Bagram near the DFAC.

Remember the liquor shop right outside Victory in the IZ. Had Jack Daniels in stock. Nuts.

I rarely made it to the IZ. We did recon the route a couple of times so we could take the obligatory pictures at the parade grounds.

For a while, we were on a 24 on/24 off schedule. During the 24 on we spent 12 hours (7p to 7a) riding up and down Tampa between Abu Ghraib and one of the checkpoints south of there, I can't remember the number. The other 12 hours we spend at 3 static OP's watching the road from Tampa to Camp Stryker. We were out one night on Tampa when we got a call over the radio from one of the OP's. This was when there was a curfew in place. They told up they saw a suspicious car driving near them. We hauled ass and saw a car parked close to their location. As we were coming in, one of our guys waived us off. The car was the local liquor salesman and they wanted to let us know without putting it out over the radio since it was also monitored by the TOC.

    WATCH OUT! IMHO
This thread has drifted beyond NOLA parade exposure.
Learned the hard way long ago - I never, again, want to own and openly/publicly have/use/display, to the masses, something that someone else will covet and take. Luckily, those things were clandestinely removed from my possession in the dead of night... no physical risk to myself, family or the company I keep.

No judgement or put-down intended toward those that desire, can afford, purchase and wear jewelry-like, magnificent time-ware. They truly are beautiful and marvels of craftsmanship. Much too heavy for my pocketbook and small-boned wrist, and wa-a-a-y beyond my priorities. After all... why wear a wristwatch? To tell time? Does a multi-$K timepiece keep even an infinitesimal/microsecond of time better than my very light, disposable/replaceable $16 Casio or Timex?

    Doubtful.

Value is in the eye of the beholder. Some people like art, watches, nice food, high end guns that go bang just as well as a cheaper one, and etc.

^^ That. I don't wear a watch. My phone, my computers, tv's, and even my stove tells me the time. But I do have some high end guns that serve no purpose but to make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I don't think anyone is stopping a member of the military to apply for the position. Though being in the military doesn't mean they are the end all be all of security.

It's Musuem.. While there is a risk everyday in our lives I don't think the Musuem needs someone that's kitted out standing at the door.

I've been there multiple times for years. Every single time we have walked in the security guards acknowledge us, smile, and tell us to enjoy our time.

I'll say it again, when the light went off on me. They didn't start barking orders to make a scene. They probably would rather not everyone start freaking out.
I have been there multiple times, all day long, from open to close. I have never had a problem. These guards were different. My kids told me they witnessed one of the guards yelling at a young mother and told her to 'keep her kid quiet' because it was crying too much. The whole attitude of the staff was different and militant.

When we got to the Air BNB, less than 5 minutes, we heard gunshots. I had not even gotten the trunk open.

Like I said, they need to go across the street and look at what happens when a population is systematically disarmed.
