All the Anti-Trumpers can bring up is "He's a convicted Felon". The problem is, Biden has committed more violations of the law in his last 10 years but the AG says "Biden doesn't have the mental ability to assist in his own defense, so we cannot bring charges against him". So let's just let him continue to run the Country, and run for reelection. He doesn't need any mental ability to do that. No problem, Dr. Jill and son Hunter are advising him and helping him run things.

So after 17 years of not posting, this is the post you come back with.

Trump is currently a convicted felon. Please explain his conviction. What law is he guilty of?
Guess those random emails I get about threads work, huh? :)

Specifically, Donald Trump is convicted of falsifying business records in the first degree:

11 were for invoices of legal services,
11 were for checks paid for legal services and,
12 were for ledger entries for legal expenses.

Just because someone is from one of the two parties does not mean they are not good for the position. It's possible for someone in one of the two parties to be good for a position.

Could you list some of the negative real world consequences American citizens suffered under the 4 years of the Trump presidency?
I do agree that either one party can produce a stellar candidate. Are they? My point is that it is less likely when all the candidate has to to is be faster than "the other one" when outrunning the proverbial bear. Having more viable candidates makes all parties better and our country stronger for it. Isn't that what we all want?

As far my personal opinion of DJT's negative (or positive) contributions to our country in his term, I'll mention a few that are, for the most part, measurable to avoid clouding my response with opinionated blabber.

Donald Trumps inability to take Covid seriously during the onset led to unnecessary and significant loss of life. His downplay of the seriousness and his ham-fisted attempts at coming up with treatments in front of cameras continue to haunt his presidential legacy (think, injectable disinfectant or UV light in the body). I do think his economic handling was decent so it's not a complete loss nor was it avoidable on the whole...he just made a bad situation worse. We have the luxury of hindsight here but there were plenty of transcripts from leading scientists and advisors urging for certain early protocols which, had they been followed, would have made a measurable difference. A wise man knows to shut up and listen when he's not the smartest man in the room...I do not believe Donald Trump has this quality.

Donald Trump's inability to accept his loss in 2020, choosing instead, to urge the AG of Georgia to "find votes" (this was a recorded call making it matter of fact) and inciting anger on his behalf, further sewing division leading to.....

Donald Trump was the most polarizing president the nation has ever had. And before you say "That's a feature, not a bug!"...it's not. Division in this country is a cancer. That door swings both ways but we don't become better when we spend all our time squabbling amongst ourselves. Candidates that promote division aren't what we need nor will our plight improve so long as we vote candidates in office that support that stance.

Donald Trump tells more outright lies to the public via omission, hyperbole or outright deceit than any other president before. We know that "when politicians aren't kissing babies, they're stealing their lollipops" so we've become sort of numb to it but, make no mistake, DJT was statistically the most untruthful president in modern times. The good thing about modern technology is that a lot of those are still readily accessible. He certainly made enough enemies to be called out

Donald Trump's willingness, one might say eagerness, to destabilize (by threatening withdrawal of) NATO in a time of Russia's aggressive land grabs of sovereign nations and China's overt desire to do more of the same. This is an opinion of international policy but eroding the free world's confidence in American support at a time such as this makes us weak.

Donald Trump's desire to evade trial for charges. He is absolutely innocent until proven guilty and I'll always support that but he stands accused and I believe he should afforded the same considerations as any other American citizen (which is what DJT is at this moment). I personally believe no position or person is above the law. He should not be allowed to pardon himself (no person should be) nor should his office have the ability to skirt the law (past, present or future). "But plenty of presidents have broken the law, why should Trump be held accountable and not them?" I can hear you say. My personal stance is, if that's true, then they should be and it's on us for not doing more. The American public is arguably the strongest per capita force on the planet but we wield it like children fighting over who gets to play Tonka truck in the sandbox. If people break the law, haul their *** off to court and get a verdict.

His treatment of our veterans. Project 2025 will be the playbook used and it aims to cut future VA claims, divest from full healthcare control and funneling that money to private organizations that risk putting profit over quality of care. The VA was never designed to make money but to care for our troops regardless of cost for their service to country. Donald Trump continually sought to cut veteran benefits/coverage in every budgetary meeting during his presidency and also tried cutting $1.5tril in Medicaid (of which ~10% are veterans). Donald Trump's view of our troops is repugnant and had John Kelly not confirmed the words he said, I would have never believed it. Nor would I have believed the Republican party to allow it. But, here we are.

Lastly and ultimately, what Donald Trump did to the Republican party will be a big one going forward. He emboldened what used to be fringe politicians, gave them the biggest soap box and a huge megaphone and sent them out to drown out reason. I used to be a die-hard Republican prior to Donald Trump but I can not vote for a candidate or any other candidate that supports him because of his ignorance, his inability to recognize his ignorance, his willingness to deceive and his short-sighted policies. If the Democrats hadn't absolutely bungled the upcoming election by having what feels like the least likely candidate to win as the nominee leading up to the DNC, the Republican party would have been forced to excise the DJT cancer from it's abdomen to survive as it had in the past.

He closed everything down initially until he got a grasp on the information. Then he lifted mandates. In retrospect, that was the best course of action. He did not come up with the treatments you mentioned.

Do you believe the 2020 election was the most fair election in history?

Courts have ruled some states violated their own laws and constitutions with some of their election changes but the point was now moot.

With respect to GA, there were irregularities. "Find votes" does not mean make them up out of thin air. It could mean recount the votes accurately.

Donald Trump was the most polarizing president the nation has ever had. And before you say "That's a feature, not a bug!"...it's not. Division in this country is a cancer. He encouraged other countries to live up to their end of the agreement with respect to funding NATO. Hahaha. "There needs to be a way for someone other than mainstream/oldschool officials to be elected. Trump opened the door for someone other than mainstream/oldschool officials to be elected."

Unfortunately, all or almost all of your long reply doesn't indicate that the majority of Americans were worse off at the end of Trump's term than they were at the beginning. But a lot of people are worse off now than when Trump left office. Personally, I don't care how Trump makes someone feel. I care about the net outcome of the decisions he made. To me, and to a number of people around me, that net effect was positive.

Both are false and I've always been of the opinion that those incapable or unwilling to hold an opposing idea in their mind alongside their own are of diminished capacity. Maybe it's best you sit this one out.

All of those acts, if they were indeed violations, would be misdemeanors. Why were they listed as felonies?

They were able to meet the burden of a felony charge because they were able to show that he committed those misdemeanors with the intent to commit and/or aid and conceal another crime. Regardless of your personal feelings and opinions, neither of which will change the reality in which we are in, Donald Trump was found guilty by a jury of his peers.

He closed everything down initially until he got a grasp on the information. Then he lifted mandates. In retrospect, that was the best course of action. He did not come up with the treatments you mentioned.
Brother, I don't know what to tell you here. You will need to take another look. The first reports of the virus started just before New Years 2020. Donald Trump didn't ban travelers from China until over a month later, claims that the "virus is very much under control" in late February, told Fox news that this was somehow Obama's fault for not funding swine flu research (?), finally declares a national emergency in late March telling people they don't need to be tested if they don't have symptoms (good call given the asymptomatic nature of the virus) and then says he wants to "reopen the country" by Easter. In early April, Donald Trump recommends (twice) hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malaria medicine despite his advisors reiterating that this was not a scientifically sound recommendation.

I'd recommend looking at infection and death rates before, during and after as the correlate with that timeline.

I believe 2020 was no more or less fair than any before or the ones yet to come. To have an opinion about which is fair and which isn't based on my opinion of the outcome is a logical fallacy. Reality doesn't care what I wish the outcome would be and it's in bad faith to suggest that, just because I didn't get my way, that it must be rigged. Which, as it would shake out, happens to draw more than a few parallels to Donald Trump's platform.

The stop squabbling. If his policies are helping the citizens, accept that fact.

    I don't accept that and that's not a fact. It's an opinion.

Do you have the source of those statistics?

If you wish to go down the rabbit hole: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False... awarded Trump its,15 such statements per day.

He encouraged other countries to live up to their end of the agreement with respect to funding NATO. Some could argue that the US does not need to be the world police nor do we need to be the only one funding NATO. As a veteran, I agree with that. Russia was kept in check during the DJT years. Once he was no longer in power, they acted out.

I do agree that we do not need to be the sole police force for the world, we do just so happen to outspend something like the next 26 countries combined...the vast majority of which are allies. While this costs us money, it does buy us influence. Also the only thing Russia was "kept in check" over was invading a sovereign nation...they never stopped their antics. Barak Obama has a lot of blame to hold for not taking them more seriously leading up the Crimea and taking the diplomatic high-road, Trump continuing it and then Biden for slow-rolling worthwhile aid (and the ability to use it on Russian soil). No one thought Russia would be so brazen and just assumed it was threats or that they'd back off at the first hint of opposition. We're finally letting Ukraine take off the gloves to defend themselves but had any of our last THREE presidents seen the writing on the wall, it could have been helped.

Has any of his efforts been illegal? If not, it's a little hypocritical to say he should be allowed to defend himself but he should only do so in the ways you want him to.

As a citizen of America, do you have that right? I don't. So why is it that private-citizen Donald Trump should be afforded these opportunities? Morally and personally, do you believe any man or woman should have the right to judge himself pardoned for a crime because of the station he holds?

Is Project 2025 a part of Trump's platform?

Just a coincidence that, on The Heritage Foundations own website, they boast that Donald Trump enacted 2/3rds of their policy recommendations from "Mandates of Leadership". Those same folks are the ones that wrote Project 2025. You can do that math.
Hahaha. "There needs to be a way for someone other than mainstream/oldschool officials to be elected. Trump opened the door for someone other than mainstream/oldschool officials to be elected."

The pendulum can, and did, swing on the wrong side of neutral. Different, while needed, isn't indicative of better.
Unfortunately, all or almost all of your long reply doesn't indicate that the majority of Americans were worse off at the end of Trump's term than they were at the beginning. To me, and to a number of people around me, that net effect was positive.

Unfortunately, all or almost all of your rebuttal provided no evidence that Americans prospered under Donald Trump's term. I, too, care about net outcome and I draw a different conclusion than you and those around you. Maybe consider talking with some people not in your echo chamber.

The problem is nobody, and I mean nobody wants to hear or try to rationalize where the other side is coming from.
We have lost our moderates and that is usually where you can get as close to the mainstream as possible.

Republicans are too busy pointing fingers at Democrats and vice-versa. They sure as hell aren't losing (anyone seen politician's investment profits?). The American public at large loses in all the chaos.

No, they never showed the he committed those misdemeanors with the intent to commit and/or aid and conceal another crime. They never showed another crime was committed. In fact, the federal agencies responsible for determining if a crime had been committed investigated the situation and determined no crime had been committed.
