I should have added details in my original post. Usually this is driving to the site and putting up tents(s). Mostly a family expedition, anywhere from 10-20 people. Most recent trip was to the Buffalo River in Arkansas for 5 days, canoeing, hiking, bike riding.
I'm pretty sure I've got the camping menu figured out, but open to suggestions.
In the past when camping with kids and grandkids it seemed like I spent all my time cooking and cleaning up rather than participating in fun activities. In the future I plan on cereal and honeybuns for breakfast...
Print a copy of the MRE Cookbook. It is valuable, and access to online versions might be limited in an emergency.

Hats off to the McIlhenny Company and Tabasco for producing this awesome cookbook, and...
While looking at Gunbroker SOLD items is the traditional way of looking for current values, there is another site that pulls the info from multiple sources. Go to
https://truegunvalue.com/pistol/colt-gold-cup-national-match/price-historical-value
And insert the firearm you are looking for...
Like @gunnut suggested, I think that blasting would allow me to address the worst dents and dings a little better than tumbling. The Harbor Freight blasting gun is a good choice for the experiment, and I already have the compressor. I can also think of several other projects for a sand blaster...
Start with a standard 10/22. Used is fine because you'll want to change out most of the parts anyway. Torque the takedown screw to 20 inch/pounds and test fire from a rest using CCI Standard Velocity (CCI-SV). This will give you a baseline to see where you are going. Only make one...
What would be the best tumbling media for a matte/frosted finish on aluminum? I've made some .22 loading blocks for giveaway to my 4H shooters that I coach. They are made out of old aluminum barstock with quite a few dings and dents. Polishing doesn't seem to help and only brings out the...
Cheap does not necessarily equate to good. Sometimes it is better to pay the going rate for an established model (think 10/22) than a cheaper alternative that will not hold a good group, constantly has problems (FTF, FTE), or is not amenable to upgrades.
Long Range Alley at Grand Cane/Kingston (just South of Shreveport) advertises itself as the only 1000 range in Louisiana. In my opinion the trip is worth it.

Playing with a trigger pull gauge yesterday and measuring some handguns. The Ruger MK III (with which I'm most accurate) has a pull of 2 lbs 4 oz due largely to the Volquartsen trigger. All three of my 1911's are in the 4/2 to 4/4 pound/oz range, but the Beretta 92FS weighs in at 6 lbs. What...
Drill Sgt is correct, for an initial application. No classes required for an initial application, just a copy of a DD 214. However for a renewal the individual must still submit proof of new (renewal) training. So for a veteran the permit is free but got to pay for renewal training.
Might have to check further on this. My understanding is that the 6 billion belonged to Iran originally, but was frozen by the US. Recently the US unfroze the account. No tax dollars involved.
Have you tried the dog food diet?
I was at Walmart buying a bag of dog food. A woman behind me in the check-out line asked if I had a dog. (I mean, why else would I buy dog food, right?)
On impulse I told her "No, I don't have a dog. I'm starting the dog food diet again. I probably shouldn't...
Try Champlin Net Co in Jonesville. They are currently showing nylon or monofilament cast nets available. I think the nylon is what you want. Champlin manufactures their own nets.

My dad returned from WWII in Europe with this german Dreyse .32 auto pistol, has the original holster and two magazines serial numbered to the pistol. I also found the bring-back paperwork in his files after he passed. Unique features for it's time (1907) were the loaded chamber indicator, a...
I just read the whole thread, and it is interesting to see the various viewpoints, and even some specifics on certain deals. I certainly agree on many points. I like to trade and often do so to obtain what I want. I usually explain why I'm trading, what I have and justification for the value...
