My vote is for 7mm-08. Look around next time you are in a sporting goods store and see which caliber has best selection (bullet weight, etc.) and price.

Either ona a do ya. The 7-08 has less recoil and is considered a "gurly" gun in some circles. Depends on what floats your bote. Either will shoot further than most folks can accurately shoot.
