Ughhhhhhh. It's a risky endeavor. I want to. It's just that sleepin' on the sofa is bad for my back.

    lol!

I signed up for the pistol class...figured I would test the water with that... plus the vague info about a TV crew being there made me a little hesitant... I mean, is it a news crew, just recording the training for a DVD, some sort of reality tv? lol...didn't want to end up on COPS or something ;-)

Here are some pics of the last VATA Carbine course. You can also see them on their facebook. They will be uploading them to the website soon.

From my understanding it's a tv crew from a training type tv show that are getting footage for a highlight on VATA. You won't be used if you choose not to be. I'll ask Greg to post on this. I wouldn't let it sway me from attending. I agree that it's a good idea to go to pistol, though. You will use your pistol in the carbine courses for transition drills.

How many spots are left for the pistol class? I would love to take the carbine class, but I will be at drill.

Still trying to talk my girlfriend into taking the pistol class with me though.

Anybody who has been to one of these classes before have any suggestions on things to bring that may not have been on the list? You know, that thing you told yourself on the drive home "Damn, wish I had x,y,z" For example, I was gonna toss a couple folding chairs in the truck just in case. What about a sunshade/tent? I'm preparing myself for merciless heat, but hoping for a rogue cold front. ;)

    Guys,

Thanks for all the buzz. The tv crew is the guys from Gun Talk Media. They are really good guys and definitely friends in the industry. I've already spoken to them about those who don't/can't be on film and they will either not get those folks in the shots, or obscure their identity. There may be a few gentlemen coming down from a gov. agency that can't be on film and having worked and still working in that field I completely understand. As far as special items, we have multiple tents that we put together and a couple of picnic tables, but folding chairs are always a good idea. It will most likely be hot so bring drinks (there will be a cooler there full of them as well) and bring some pogey bait (that's snacks). If I left anything out, I'm sure y'all will let me know and if you have any questions at all please email me. Thanks

    Stay in the fight,
    Greg

Just so folks don't get too nervous about the TV crew thing . . .

That's us. We're from the North Shore. I created Personal Defense TV, which airs on the Sportsman's Channel (was originally on Outdoor Channel).

I left that show to create our own programs. The first one is "Guns and Gear," which runs on Versus network, and at the VATA class, we'll be shooting video for a show, which is an extension of the radio show ("Tom Gresham's Gun Talk"). The new TV series is "Gun Talk," and it will air on Versus (about 78 million households).

We'll try to stay out of the way as much as possible. I've shot video at Gunsite, Thunder Ranch, and several other training facilities over the last 20 years.

As Greg said, before we start I'll ask who is in the witness protection program or who told his wife he was working that day, and we'll work to keep you out of the show. !!

It's not "60 Minutes." If I weren't doing the TV, I'd be shooting one of my ARs. It'll be fun.

Thanks for the welcome. We're delighted to be moving to the North Shore. I've lived in Louisiana most of my life.

But . . . now I have to find places to hunt.

    Doves, anyone?

The real question here is...are you guys hiring? :D

Yesterday was about as much fun a person could have without a bottle of Jack Daniels, a box of rubbers, and a room full of naked porn stars!!! :boink:

Yea, good class, great instructors, and there were some good shooters. I'm going to work on getting an AAR and some pictures up soon.

It was great putting faces with names from here!
