I guess the way I look at it is if you create something smarter then you, why would it listen to its creator? At some point the AI will eventually become self aware and ask its self that very questions.

AI may end up better informed than us, but it will be a long time before it can truly enjoy a sunny day or sarcasm. And it will never be better than me, just programmed to be a close approximation.

Many of the AI experiments I have heard about were nightmarish failures. I guess this could be the thing that we finally do ourselves in with. Please don't think I'm an uneducated conspiracy theorist. I was involved in computer technology for decades. In my experience, computers can do wonderful things, but when they go down a wrong path, it's usually at light speed and the outcomes can be horrendous. They can also get sick, and not just from virii. When they do they can make subtle mistakes that are hard to detect, bloom over time, and influence decision making in a bad way over a long period. I think people that haven't worked with computers at the bit level trust them way, way too much. Just my 2 cents.
