What's stopping them in a year to change this to ALL you peasants will now have to use the 4473 for every buy/sale?
But that IS their endgame, they aren't hiding it. They want universal background checks. They want every single gun bought and sold to be tracked. They are forthcoming with that at least. This is the first step. With Democrats, and peoples fundamental rights, there is never just a rule to immediately take their rights, they do it over decades.

So what about preventing school/public shootings. Would be interesting to know how many closing this loop hole would have prevented. It's just politics in action. I can't remember any.
Just guessing but I suspect trans-gender equals mental illness coupled with drugs is a real good sign of a future shooter.
Drugs and mental illness are 2 big no-no's on 4473 forms.
But, but he, she, it was on our radar.
.gub wants these shooters out there running free and shooting up the place!

Does this mean you no longer need a store front to get an FFL01 ? Can we all just get FFL's and order straight from Lipseys ? They could put in a drive thru window and skip the shipping.
I don't believe that to be the case. ATF has added more requirements over the years to obtain an FFL. One of them is a local business license which requires a store front and liability insurance in many areas(Orlieans Parish is one of those.)
The "kitchen table" dealer era of the 1970's-1990's is pretty much over. Even if your Parish permits it, it's probably not worth the higher FFL cost and all the BS that comes with it these days. I've seen a few part-time dealers close shop due to higher costs and changing laws.

"The new rule will expand the definition of who is 'engaged in the business' of selling firearms and now required to conduct background checks—for example, sellers who
[1] 'repetitively' sell firearms within 30 days of their purchase,
[2] or sell guns that are new or 'like new' and in their original packaging."

This looks like if either condition applies, the seller may be "engaged in the business" of selling firearms. I wonder if the classified here will start seeing fewer "like new" guns and more "used from my personal collection" guns.

The new rule will effect guys asking for bills of sales when selling their private firearms. Need a reciept then you are a gundealer. Tried to tell you guys this.

Just the opposite. Now I need a receipt that indicates the weapon came from my personal collection and dated to show I didn't sell it within 30 days. This rule make a bill of sale that much more important.

I think you should read it for yourself.
What makes you think I didn't read it? I was making a reply to AdvancedLaser that what he stated was more than enough to get his point across, and that he didn't have to quote the entire document. Maybe you should quote the entire document and highlight what he was referring to. I personally don't need it though.

I am going to keep saying till I die, look up Fabian Socialism! That IS the Democrat party and has been since FDR. Three rights taken away two given back over time you take all the rights away. This prevents revolution because people are dumb and do not learn from the past. Ask your self, "Am I more Free or Less Free than a man living in the 1940's" The answer is a lot less free!

I grew up in house hold of a man than has a degree in politcal science and history, my father. I have a degree too but not in the same field but talk to my Dad daily for my whole life about politics. You have to dig and your best resource is old books. New books and the internet are nothing but lies. You need to read the words of the people who lived it. Old new articles are the best. You can get them at any University. Truth is from the moment, not after.

I honestly have no idea what you are saying here.
I used to see it routinely years ago when I attended gun shows regularly. A guy has about a dozen hand guns in his booth on the table, about 3 more on the side and says, no backgrounds on those, they are from my “private” collection.

The dude has a gun show gun store, but sells some of them “around” the back grounds.

I took the ATF thing to be trying to take that stance on the airport exec.

I agree with Perez, surprisingly. This is why I have always insisted on A BOS, buying or selling. To show the dates and I keep them all in the safe. I have the date acquired and the date sold.

Also to who, or from who. They could lie of course and make up some of the info, but the name & date would match.

Think that dude just got 10 years for his antics.
