    30 x Blackbirds cleaned
    1 1/2 lb Pork sausage
    1 lrg Onion chopped
    1 lrg Green pepper chopped
    1 cup Chopped celery
    Salt to taste
    Freshly-ground black pepper to taste
    4 cup Water
    2 cup Raw rice
    1 tbl Chopped green onion tops
    1 tbl Minced parsley


    How to cook :

    Brown birds and sausage in a Dutch oven; cook until birds are tender.
    Add onion, green pepper, and celery, and cook until onion browns slightly.
    Add salt and pepper to taste, then the water.
    Bring to a boil and add rice; be sure there is sufficient liquid to cook rice.
    Cover tightly and cook for about 40 minutes.
    Just before serving stir in onion tops and parsley.
    This recipe yields 6 servings.

    Economical Meal and MUM MUM GOOD!

    when i was about 15 me and a friend each fired 6 shots and we ended up finding 70 something birds. we breasted them and my friends dad made a jambalaya it was actually pretty good

    As kids we use to make a 3' dia x 4' long chicken wire tube with one end funneled and the other one closed off and throw bird seed and grain in it, it would fill up in no time, then you just reach in and pull them out.:)
