Date Failure.

Not looking for advice or pity or anything, just trying to give a few of you a laugh over my evening.

Background:

Girl I have thought is attractive for many months. Took forever to get close to her and she became a friend in the mean time, but I still wanted to go out to supper at some point at least.

Situation:

Her birthday was week before last, but she was spending it with her girl friends. I asked if I could take her to supper the next week. Next week she canceled, but promised this week.

Result:

Today was the day. Well, night, I guess. Followed her to the restaurant of her choice after the gym (She also happens to be my trainer). Get there. A sickening realization sets in: I have forgotten every form of payment I normally care when NOT going to the gym except for my check book. Restaurants do not take checks.

Resolution:

She paid for her own birthday meal and I wrote her a check for it. She was very cool about it and we had a great time.

Analysis:

Thank god it wasn't a date that I had planned to take anywhere, this is the most spectacular failure I have had since I first tried to put a condom on. Epic fail, complete embarrassment, no excuses.

Anyway, hope some of you got an LOL. Tons of meticulous planning only to forget something so simple. Fail.

The girl looks like a porn star. She isn't my trainer because she has flaws. Worthless without pix, I know, but I just wasn't in the mood to ask for a picture tonight. I do not think I deserved one.

While I call it a date, it really wasn't. Just 2 friends hanging out if you want the reality of it, don't want to falsely enhance my image, I don't belong with a girl like that and I'm not trying to end up with one. It doesn't change that I feel like an epic failure, though, lol

I'm happier with her as a friend and that's why I put her in the friend-zone. I don't want to date a girl like that. I stayed in my own league back when I used to date, but haven't felt a desire to since I was a lot younger. I was, however, hoping not to look like a complete idiot over supper.

Meh, I only chase things I can catch, and I am smart enough to recognize those things. This girl is far outside my league and I'm smart enough to know it. If I didn't want her as a friend only, I wouldn't have hired her to be my trainer. Dating just holds no interest for me, and I've done my share of screwing around (there is so much crap out there! Got all tested out clean and I'm quitting while I'm ahead). I just wanted to enjoy a decent meal with good conversation, which I got, but it wasn't without much embarrassment

BTW, how many threads on this forum are about being prepared for any eventuality? Stick a $50 or $100 bill somewhere in your car, wallet, holster, etc. and leave it there!
