I guess you guys have heard the speculation that any color other than black somehow weakens the polymer? Supposedly, authorities on MagPul magazines say the same thing. I haven't shot mine enough to know, but the proponents of this theory on the several other forums I've read it on make a strong case.

You know, the prototypes of the HK45 and HK45 Compact had frames done in this color. I heard a rumor at the time that the reason the production guns ended up all-black was because of a potential issue with the colored polymer. Again, hearsay.

But it makes you think, eh??? :D

    .

Having a hard time swallowing that one. IIRC, there was a batch of tan PMags that had issues, but I don't know how much of it related to the color of the polymer. And they are still producing the entire rainbow of colors, so I doubt that was the issue. Also, every company uses different types polymers, so I doubt what could affect one would have anything to do with the others. Think of the huge myriad of guns, mags and other products that are currently produced with colored polymer, if there were any truth to it don't you think the rumors would be more substantiated at this point? I mean if lowly Keltecs and such aren't having issues, I would assume it's not a concern on a Glock.

As to HK not making a colored frame, I'm sure there's plenty of reasons they didn't other than potential issues. The obvious being that you suck and they hate you. ;)
