I've lost 40lbs since late Feb. It's amazing how different I feel and how my clothes don't fit. LOL

I only thought of doing Crossfit because of jermey.

    Me too...

I am going again tonight but I am still sore from Tuesday. After my wife is done with the foundations classes I think I will go Mon and Thursdays so I have more time between sessions. I am planning once I get to feeling better then I will go 3x a week. I'm 47 years old and 100 pounds overweight so I need to go slow.

I was 280, a smoker, haven't exercised since before Gustav, my diet was 5 guys, pasta based dishes (Italian here), and I went through two loaves of bread a week EASY. I started with 3 days a week, quickly going to 4, then 5. Sometimes I go 6 if things line up right, its only an hour. If you are sore, the best thing you can do is go workout! It works out the soreness. Even if you don't go work out, do a warmup type WOD at home to get your blood flowing, it helps a lot. I did that workout I posted yesterday as prescribed. When I started I wouldn't be able to move having scaled the workout to nothing, this morning I feel fine. You don't want more time between sessions, but you should listen to your body and scale as needed, after you warmup you will probably will feel better.

Now my question for you Crossfitters is, we are going home to Florida for 2 weeks in July. I told my wife we can't not do anything for two weeks. Can you pay a per session fee if you are visiting the area to attend for a cpl days?

Email or call the boxes, explain that you are on vacation. When I was in Arkansas I ended up having enough boxes tell me to drop in a couple days for free I could have worked out twice a day for the 8 or 9 days I was there, I ended up being in a hospital room instead of the long term cancer care house since they admitted my mom so I couldn't take up the offers. A couple offered drop in rates from $10 to $20, my box it is $10, Saturday Drop ins are encouraged, and "bring a friend" is free to an extent with prior approval. You could always do some at home wods, there are apps and websites where you can put in what equipment you have and it will give you wods to do, or you could just do body weight wods.

Maybe call a box out that way and see if you cant set something up. Or have a workout written up for you.

Even magpie's non paleo food is still very good she sources local first then goes to a distributor that deals with all organic, this is why her menus changes daily. I actually had a roast beef panini recently that was awesome, and even though was on bread I didn't feel guilty about it like I would a sandwich from, say, chimes.

Also burger smith has a grass fed burger and you can request it on a lettuce "bun"

Magpie cafe next to zippy's on perkens has paleo offerings pretty much daily. I tend to eat pretty strict during the week and more relaxed on the weekends, I don't go eating cakes and what nots but will have a burger with bun and fries or something like that. My wife is doing the whole 30 right now so I'm trying to not eat a to. Of stuff she can't in front of her.
As for crossfit, enjoy yourself, have fun and listen to your body to avoid injury, I've been doing it for 7 months now and love it. Also I advise you take care of the calluses you will get, I wasn't and ripped for the first time last week, it sucks and I hope to not do it again with proper callus maintainence.

I'll have to check out Magpie, this is my first time hearing about it. Thanks for the heads up.

I would love a pool to be part of the work out! And if not, I would still jump in at the end.

I think I am going to try a 30" box jump soon. I can clear a PVC pipe at 30", but a PVC pipe is much more forgiving than a box when you miss. (even though one miss shot a PVC pipe through the glass wall, another through the sheet rock)

I suck at running, trying pose, whatever, my run times suck. Best thing for me to do is go at my slow pace and pass people up as they start walking...

I do tend to do better compared to others when we run with sandbags, I am not sure how heavy they are, I like the heavier one, it is easier to carry. I guess I am use to carrying the extra weight around anyway.

I am still the fat guy, by far, but it doesn't matter, I am better than the fat guy that started 5 months ago.

yeah, 30" box jumps can be hazardous
it motivates you to jump higher though.
