I have fired the XD products in the past and I prefer other pistols for defensive use. You can purchase a HK VP9, Sig P320, Walther PPQ, M&P or Glock for less than $600 but I am sure you will enjoy whatever you buy. Good luck with your purchase.

Devilneck, I've got an olive XDM .40 in 4.5" I love the thing. I've put around 8 thousand rounds through it over the 5 ish years I've owned it. It's done USPSA with me, plenty of range time, gone camping/hiking, and usually has an Insight WX150 on it when it lives on my bedside table. I also have a XDM .40 3.8" that I use for daily CC. Not as many rounds through this one. My 4.5 has a Stainless guide rod upgrade, grip tape, Dawson sights, and a Springer trigger kit. All upgrades I enjoy, but not necessary to the function. And for the haters I also own a G19 and a P229. I like the XDm better

I have 2 of the 5.25 in 9mm. Probably around 4-5k rounds thru one of them. The other is a backup. No issues. Not sure when the extra 2 mags special ends on new xdm purchase
