because only then 1911 feels right in my hands. if i pick up anything else i start throwing shots. and its becoming harder and harder to find 45 acp and more expensive by the second and i just dont have the time to reload my own rounds....if that makes any sense

and ik the odds of finding one at a reasonable price is next to impossible

Have you tried the Star B or the 7.62x25 pistols out there? Pretty 1911-like. Also, I think Rock Island (made in phillipines) makes a decent and low priced 1911 and I think they make a 9mm...

Yeah agreed with the rock island. They make a high capacity 1911 tactical with skeletonized hammer and trigger for around 700. Super nice gun. You can also get a regular model from them in 9mm for under 500. Definitely worth the look

Not in the true sense ... But

The P14.45 (a.k.a. P16.40 and P18.9) is a 5" pistol, using a standard Government-size slide and barrel, and it has a Government height frame (uses a Government model MSH).
    I have a STI HiCap in 40 but it ain't a 1911 either, it's a 2011.
The P-series Paras have a different frame, trigger, mags, and mag release.

I have a Colt Defender in 9mm and love it. Fun to shoot.

I go to the range with my handguns for one reason. To become more proficient in the use of the tool that I will defend my life with. To that end, the .45 has few peers. While the 9mm is fun to shoot, I take the defense of my life and yours VERY seriously. True the 9mm is faster, but when the aggressor is in my 7 yard personal zone, I prefer large holes. We can argue 9mm VS .45 all day long but real world results and history are on my side.

sir i completely agree with you i carry a glock 30 as my personal protection and carry pistol and i also own a spring field 1911 chambered in 45 acp but im just looking to spend more time shooting and spend less money. im not looking to go to the Olympics im just looking to atleast compete at my local gun club matches and not pay a fortune practicing and competing and the price difference between 9mm and 45 is huge given the number of rounds ill be shooting
