Couldn't the President order a missile strike to shoot down, or at the very least break up the sun into smaller pieces?????

That's depends. Is the sun a capitalist? Is solar radiation coming the the US legally? Would it hurts the US economy if we destroy the sun? If we gave the sun voting rights who would it vote for? Who would the smaller pieces vote for?

Those are all very valid points. I say we immediately send the Senate & Congress on a fact-finding mission to the Sun to find all that out. The Sunites could be up to something far more sinister than meets the eye...:squint:

And no I won't stay up to 0300 to work CW nets with the OFs either.

Then ther is hope for you still. :D
By the way, I'm on the Ascension .225 machine most nights around 10:15 and 11:15pm as I drive to work at the hospital. When I get off between 7 and 8 am I throw out my call on that repeater for the drive home. If you are in your shack around those times listen for me.

Oh wait....****, it's late. I was thinking about giant meteors.:o

LOL... well... he seems to think that Government can do the impossible...

What's wrong with that? The government itself already seems to think it can do the impossible: Legislate away hatred, spend away debt, cure poverty through entitlement, win peace through appeasement and submission, eliminate threats by re-naming them, etc., etc.

So a whale trying to escape the oil on the gulf from BP will sink into the molten asphalt due to the sun heating it up. At least they use ulta low frequency which might not affected as much as our communications.

The thing that is a risk is what is called a coronal mass emission. It's what happens when a solar flare breaks down and sends a plume of energized material out from the sun. It could cause major problems to things like satelites and power grids and the like. It also would have to fire directly at the earth for that to happen, chances of which are about equivilant to a drunkard hitting a bulleye at darts, while blindfolded, facing away, and throwing upside down from between his legs. There's a whole lot of space where the earth isn't at any given time...

Ammo is divisable, Durable, valuable, and useful in it's own right.

    HOWEVER...

I don't think (Like now with Gold) it's the right time to sink your extra $ into it.

    The 9mm i bought in 2006... Sure
    THe 308 I ought in 2006/2007... sure

    Now... not so much.

Still, ammo is good to have.

    Buy ammo.

But one cannot DRINK it; protect one's self from DISEASE or EAT or SHELTER one's self, either.

While I'd never give it away it's merely A tool (of many tools) and surely one would not lose his soul pursuing material things that he could have prepared for. I know I could not make that choice (and sleep well).

This tool can get you all of those things.;)

I remember from The book 'The Walking Drums'

"Depend on your Sword and your strong right arm.

And if you've got a good left and some Gold that helps too!"

It can certainly assist in acquiring them, that is true! (except for the disease thing)

I didn't want to go there, though.
