USA Today gave Lafayette the blue ribbon for the "best place for food".

They also did a list on the top 10 places to eat Fried Chicken. One of the places was local to me when I lived in Misssissippi (Julep Jackson, MS). I tried it out and got fried chicken drizzled in Rosemary Honey..... It was interesting, but doesn't belong on a top 10 places to eat Fried Chicken list.

All that being said, I have no doubt the food in Lafayette has great food.... It's in South Louisiana; how can it not?

Anyway for the OP, Welcome aboard. You need to eat some crawfish. Hopefully, you will be here while they are in season.

Also, be aware that the culture in Louisiana is different depending on where you are. New Orleans is completely different from Baton Rouge, which is different from Alexandria, which is different from Lafeyette, which is different from Shreveport. Our state is very diverse. :D

Thanks for the welcome guys. I will be staying in the Baton Rouge area for a week or so doing some "business". I am really looking forward to the food and seeing the sights other than the city.
