So, it seems as if the lovely populace of Hopkins Street was acting up again after the parades in town this past Saturday. They were throwing bottles and rocks at the police on scene trying to clear the street out. Similar events have happened there in years past as well, causing police to use tear gas in order to disperse the crowd.
Sadly, it seems that an officer is getting administrative leave for this incident that was posted on Youtube:
[Also, here is the news article from our local paper. http://www.iberianet.com/news/hopkins-response/article_3209fade-2aa9-11e3-a751-001a4bcf887a.html
Now, before this turns into too much of a heated bebate trying to bash the police, let it be known that Hopkins Street is a Louisiana state highway (La. 675). Also, there was no parade actually on that street, and the "participants" of this gathering had no permit to be there, it was not an organized event.
I believe that it was time for their party to be over at 2 A.M.
