I am quite a nerd. I learn everything by stripping and cleaning any new kitten before I shoot her. There is just something about that which makes me know a gun is a peach.
A coworker and myself both bought Ruger All Americans in 308 from Gander Mountain on the same day. Took them both back to the office and started fondeling them. Mine had a silver gritty susbance in the bolt and his had a few very small, very fine pieces of metal in the chamber. We broke down both of them for a good cleaning. First patch from both came out silver. Looked like never sieze. This is the first time I have ever cleaned a new rifle before shooting. Im glad I did.
