I have been told across state lines does not need an FFL for FTF but I would take the safe road and find an FFL in TX to do the transfer.

Not exactly...the other threads were referencing FTF sales as governed by the GCA of 68. I want to know if there are any state laws that might apply.

Suppose a TX resident was driving through Louisiana and stopped at a sporting goods store. Would the TX resident be able to purchase a long gun under Louisiana law?

Or suppose a Louisiana based FFL went to a gunshow in Houston. Could he sell to a Texas resident?

An FFL can sell a long gun to a resident of a contiguously adjoining state, but not a pistol. If the buyer is from a state that is not contiguous, the sale must go through an FFL of the buyer's state.

Live in La., have bought shotguns and rifles from a Tex. dealer at gunshow in Texas. Fill out the form, they do instant background check, pay and go. Don't know about handguns but I think you can.
