Friend of mine sent me pics showing that he spray painted his G19 and his AR to khaki.

Sounds pretty stupid to me but it looks quite good in pics. Anyone ever heard of doing this? I guess you just tape off external moving parts and go to town?

I don't even like my guns dusty... let alone spray painted. His actually seem to look pretty solid though, I'm shocked.

    Well???

I was going to post and ask if he was screwing with me, but theres a pile of youtube videos on the subject as well. Maybe he actually did this... wow.

Buddy of mine had this old beaten up 870 that he rattlecanned the receiver and other exterior metal on. Used some high temp appliance paint, so it's pretty sturdy, and doesn't bubble if it gets hot. Looks good, but I'd feel safer with a duracoat, preferably a cerakote.

ok the duracoated ones look incredible. I've got to think that the high use areas will fade or wear though?

I mean, as cheap as this is I guess you just repaint it? :dunno:

I had an old beaten up double barrel Stevens that I gave to a friend so he could hunt with me years back. He painted the barrels black with heat paint for BBQ pits and camo'd the stock. The gun looked brand new and awesome! He came rabbit hunting this year and is still using the same gun, it still looks great.

I seen a **** ton of Army Rifles painted all sorts of tan overseas.

I was always amazed that they'd allow them to do that.
I mean, how easy is it to get that **** off? Does it have to come off?
If it does, i think it would take some serious solvent.

theres a carbon fiber hydro g19 with a ported barrel that looks major sexy.

but the more i look at these, the more i find the bare naked glock to be more attractive. its like comparing a shiny new truck to a lifted jeep.

My AK is sprayed, thinking about doing the same to my 870...as long as they work and shoot well who cares? Keep on spraying and saving money.

If you don't want it to peel off in a few months, clean with an alcohol based cleaner, sand (400 grit), and use this:
