Thinking of a trip to Calgary, Canada this summer since I'll be up in South Dakota.
Any thoughts of where to leave my firearms and ammo before I cross the border in Montana?
This is all hypothetical of course.

Call the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Canadian Firearms Program. 1-800-731-4000
They are very helpful and you can ask them anything. As long as you sound genuine and truthful, they will help you no matter what your question is.

It might not be a problem to take in hunting rifles. Hand guns are a different matter.

Some friends hunted up there a couple of decades ago. There were storage lockers available for short term rental appropriate for guns.

As suggested, the RCMP could be helpful.

    Good luck.

Since I am living fulltime in my motorhome now, this is not a hunting rifle........
I'll leave the rest to your imagination.
I don't think the RCMP would want to help me in this instance. I'm thinking it's best to find a place on our side of the border to store them.

Not worth it. Leave them here. You might be able to bring a shotgun with you but no handguns. Btw Canada is not hung up on short barrels like we are.

I'll be happy to babysit your guns for you. :)

Sure, just meet me in northern Montana the early part of July.
Here is in my motorhome, no house anymore.

Try callng the Sheriff of whatever county is the one you will leave the US from. Ask him if he'll hold them for you or recommend someone who will.

Gunsmith and or gunstore, I am sure they will store them for you for a fee. Heck check out the store policies. Drop them off to be cleaned, you then have what, 30 days to pick them up?
