How does DU control the temperature?

Through global warming, of course! (there may actually be some truth to this part)

I don't believe they actually "control the temperature" (although I read in an article years ago they were experimenting with natural gas systems in some of Canada's "Pothole Prairie Region" with flooded fields). But I do believe that ducks will only migrate as far south as they need to for food & open water- with food being the big issue. There has been success in planting programs involving duck-friendly winter crops. The more winter wheat/rye that is planted to the north of us, the less waterfowl we will have in Louisiana when duck season traditionally rolls.

Personally, I would rather support Delta Waterfowl than DU. I believe they are a little more pro-hunting than DU- and don't seem to reserve prime hunting land for their board members and politicians nearly as much.

Also, one increasingly popular method is to pump heated, used water from the numerous nuclear facilities along the upper Mississippi River into flooded agricultural fields year-round. These fields do not freeze, and keep thousands of ducks from flying south in the process.....

(and no, this is not a joke)
