:oWhat a coincidence, I just finished the plans for mine. I traced the plans in cad and scaled them up to the size I wanted. I plan on making this a summer project this year.

    Updates:

Inner gunwales are installed. Need to trim some Premium Pine 1x4's down to 1x2's and lean them out to <1/2" thickness for outer gunwales.

    It's coming along pretty well.
I see you used the butt joint method instead of scarfing the edges together. Some people don't like the look of it but in my opinion a butt joint is much stronger.

Keep us posted on her progress. It's motivating me to start mines.:D

Exactly why I went with the butt joint. Almost weighing 300 lbs I do not want to leave anything to chance as far as structural strength and integrity. Given that I should have went with 1/2 in. bottom but oh well.

With spring fast approaching you should start on yours now to have it ready for the summer for fishing.

    I already have a canoe & a pirogue to go if I "have" to.:D

I wanted to be a project for me and my dad to work on. He'll turn 70 in May and we hadn't worked on a fun project in a while.

He was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago and is now in the tail end of his treatment. He would want me to wait for him.:hs:

I hear ya'. As soon as I finish this one and it works with no problems I'm going to build one for my old man and see if I can't get him interested in the paddling hobby.

    OK... Here we go...

Obviously the pirogue is not 100% yet but I'm taking her out on a test run before I start painting and adding on decking and such.
