On the topic of small J-frames for women...

I was once told that my wife would not like the J-frame .357 (S&W 640) I was buying her, because women don't like the recoil out of them. This was after I said that I was going with a steel frame revolver loaded with .38's for her, because she'd already shot a detective special and enjoyed it.

I guess it's not the worst advice I've ever had, but all J-frames aren't created equal.

By the NOPD Stolen Property Department in or around 1980.

Me: "I am about to buy a gun and I want to see if it's stolen." (I was almost 99.9% certain it was).
Them: "What would you like us to do?"
Me: "I was told that I could call you guys and give you the serial number, make, and caliber, and you could run the numbers to see if it was."
    Them: "Hold on, Sir!"
    Me: :ohreally:
Them: "Okay Sir, what are the numbers/"
    Me: "blah blah number/letter."
    Them: "Hold on Sir."
    Me: :ohreally:
Them: "Sir, we don't show that gun in our system."

Not most people who truly believed the gun was stolen! That is, unless it didn't matter to them.

Those plastic framed Glocks are just a fad, they won't hold up. I didn't take that advice.
Wish I would have listened to myself on several occasions.
    Accidentally bought a .380 once.
    Stainless 1911's are no good.

Anything larger than .22lr for my wife's first handgun is too much. Bought her a .357 magnum Rossi 3 inch revolver as her first and she loves it. Admittedly she doesn't like .357 rounds through it, but .38+p she loves and handles very well.

That if I shot my rubber boot with my BB gun when I was 10 that it would deflect because it's rubber.

Wouldn't you know I shot myself in the toe that day? Haha
