Any of you anglers out there have any tips, tricks or suggestions for winter cold water fishing? The Mrs. expressed an interest in fishing so we went out this weekend to a couple of ponds with no success. We fished worms about 1 - 2 feet deep and no nibbles.

I think my first mistake was not being deep enough. But do shiners do better than worms in cold water? Also do the same fishing methods for brim work for brown/rainbow trout in these "stocked" ponds of BREC?

Also - anyone got a canoe they want to loan out or rent for next weekend? :D

    Thx

Fish deep, except on those warmer days, then the fish will come to the shallows. I fish more saltwater these days, but try and pick up some salmon eggs for the rainbow trout. Basspro/Cabelas probably have them.

Fish deep when its cold. Use something white or flashy. I like to use a white tube jig or a worm with light colors.

Also, red, purple, and dark green for bass fishing. Remember you work the bait real slow.
