Cabela's has Smith & Wesson Model 22A's on sale for $199. Anyone want to make me a better deal on a .22 pistol? Ruger, S&W, Walther, etc. Let me know - I will be driving to Gonzales on Saturday. Thanks!
Reviews of the 22A look good. I don't think I have seen any negatives on it. I love the Ruger, but the $ is substantially more new. And folks hold on to their Rugers so much that used ones aren't so easy to find.
My opinion only, but when it comes to .22 semi-auto pistols, you will not find one better than a Ruger. Durable, dependable, accurate. The Ruger is king.
+1 on 22A. I bought a high-round-count 5" model 2 years ago and a 7" LNIB 2 weeks ago and both are great plinkers. BTW, I paid $185 and $200 total delivered - so I think Cabela's is GTG. If you decide on the P22, get the one without the "compensator" as it is a pain to remove for cleaning. The $200 price offered on the Walther above seems a very good deal IMO.
$199 is a good price for a 22A. They are good shooters.
The Rugers are good, too, but have become overpriced lately, IMHO.
Buckmark > Ruger Mark > S&W 22A, but you won't find anything better for $200 new.
+1 on the Ruger. I have a MarkIII 22/45 w/ 5.5 bull barrel competion model and has been an ace all the time. Spend just a little bit more and get the standard model and you'll never regret it. Reassembly is harder than disassembly but do it twice and it's nothing.
