I'm certainly not chastizing people who won't buy guns with them, lord knows I have stranger peculiarities. That being said, most people run a greater risk of dying in a car crash everyday than being placed in a situation that requires a gun for self defense AND having their S&W lock model seize on them.

There was a youtube video of how to remove the lock on a J frame. Very simple and uncomplicated procedure. No grinding or altering parts. It is easily reinstalled later.
