I thought this technology existed, and now I know, that "they" can make these modern batteries detonate remotely.

I'm uncomfortably waiting for the new age attack, making Lithium batteries explode, which will burn America to the ground.
My first thought was a little bit of apprehension that they can blow up my phone, your phone or anyone's anything that has a lithium battery and connection to the internet. Which is pretty much everything that we use that is portable.

And of course they can tell you anything to keep you from believing that hey can do that. So while it couldn't have happened to a better group of people, it makes me (more) nervous.

Wired article claims 2700 injured. According to some videos (that I have not seen), it would appear that the explosions are packing more than what a li-ion battery would be capable of. Pretty insane (and terrifying) if this is the result of hacking/overheating li-ion batteries. I struggle with the notion that it's a manufacturing defect seeing as how many have exploded in such a short amount of time.

The total is nine killed by exploding pagers, and thousands injured. Wow, by a freakin pager! These must have contained a small charge of C4, or some explosive very similar.
See, that's the question. I had a lithium battery blow in a charger and honestly, its shocking how much potential there is. Mine was a cheap 123 in a cheap charger and I threw the rest away. Lithium is no joke when it overheats.

Zero statistical chance that a defect caused 2700 to go off simultaneously. Remember, we send iPhones to the Israelis to crack because they can and apparently we can't. Yet.

One of the articles I just read in the last 10 minutes states the pagers had a small explosive charge within them. And this was planned long ago.

"Pagers used by hundreds of members of the militant group Hezbollah exploded near simultaneously in Lebanon and Syria on Tuesday, killing at least nine people – including an 8-year-old girl -- and wounding several thousand, officials said. Hezbollah and the Lebanese government blamed Israel for what appeared to be a sophisticated, remote attack."

Good on the Israelis. Smart f**kers!

Relax... They didn't just make them explode via a hack.... From what I read they intercepted them in the supply chain and planted PETN in the pagers. Then got the pagers to heat up and detonate.

But, if you feel your phone warming up.... you better toss it in a bucket of water!
