Is there enough interest in an AK build?

I know someone on here said he had the knowledge to build them and show others. He said he knew where the kits could be had for $130.

I'm not an AK fan; but for $130 I can be.

Look here about 1/4 of the way down http://www.classicarms.us/

You'd be hard pressed to find a price better than 99 bux. I have two of the kits and they are # matching with NEW barrels. I know of at least 50 of these kits that have been bought, no complaints.

And no, I've never built one yet;)

I got it off GoinBroker. APEX Gun Parts had a 1986 matching G Kit for auction on GoinBroker for $130.
This will be my first build. In fact, I am new to AKs in general, having only recently aquired a LNIB SAR 1.

    BamBam,

I was referring to you as the one with the knowledge to be able to help us build these. So, if you are willing to help us let us know exactly what we need to purchase and where and when you would be willing to do this.

I know very little about AK and the regulations that go with them. I shot a FA with an underfold stock that I think was Hungarian as I borrowed it from a Hungarian soldier to shoot it when I was still in the service.

JUST BACK IN- ROMAIMIAN AK PARTS SETS.

WE HAVE BEEN SO LOW ON THESE THAT WE HAVE HAD THEM OFF THE SITE FOR A WHILE. HOWEVER, WE HAVE JUST RECEIVED WHAT WILL BE OUR LAST BATCH AND HAVE DECIDED TO POST THEM AGAIN FOR A LIMITED TIME. THESE WILL BE THE LAST ONES ALLOWED TO BE IMPORTED WITH THE BARRELS INTACT AND WHEN THEY ARE GONE, THEY ARE GONE. COMES COMPLETE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SEE ABOVE LESS RECEIVER OF COURSE. QUALITY IS EXCELLENT. (SEC 922r WOULD APPLY TO RIFLE ASSEMBLY)
    LESS THAN 200 AVAILABLE.....$129.95
***NOTE- THE PARTS SET ABOVE DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY U.S. PARTS. ASSEMBLY OF THE AK-PART SET ABOVE INTO A LEGAL SEMI-AUTO RIFLE REQUIRES AT LEAST 6 U.S. MADE PARTS TO BRING IT INTO COMPLIANCE. TYPICALLY THIS WOULD CONSIST OF A U.S. MADE RECEIVER AND AT LEAST 5 ADDITIONAL PARTS. WE OFFER SOME OF THE U.S. PARTS BELOW. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE LEGAL ASSEMBLY OF A PARTS SET AND SECTION 922r SEE OUR ACCESSORY PAGE.

***NOTE WE RECEIVED SOME KITS ON WHAT WAS TO BE OUR FINAL BATCH THAT CAME IN WITH SOME SURFACE RUST AND FINISH WEAR THAT WAS BELOW OUR USUAL STANDARD. THEY ARE STILL VERY FUNCTIONAL BUT WILL REQUIRE SOME ELBOW GREASE. IF YOU WANT ONE OF THESE AT A GREAT DISCOUNT JUST ASK FOR ONE OF THE RUSTY KITS AT A SPECIAL PRICE OF $99.95

    AK REPLACEMENT / COMPLIANT PARTS.
IF YOU WISH TO COMPLETE YOUR COMPLIANT PARTS PURCHASE WITH US WE ALSO OFFER THE U.S. MADE TRIGGER SET, GAS PISTON, PISTOL GRIP AND COMP.

WE NOW HAVE U.S. MADE COMPLIANT PARTS FOR YOUR AK RIFLE. MADE IN THE USA BY TAPCO. EACH PART IS MARKED MADE IN THE U.S.A. FOR COMPLIANCE PURPOSES. THESE SETS ARE CONSIDERED THE BEST IN THE INDUSTRY

THE SET INCLUDES THE TRIGGER, HAMMER AND DISCONNECT. EACH PIECE COUNTS AS A COMPLIANCE PART. YOUR CHOICE OF SINGLE OR DOUBLE ARM G2 TRIGGER GROUP . US-AKPS.....ONLY....$34.95/ SET.

So, we need a kit for $99 then other parts to make it compliant for $34.95 and is that it? I'm not upto speed with building firearms. I know I went to East St. John High; but suprisingly they didn't offer the class

    Me too.

Foremost, how about a precise shopping list from someone with experience? type of AK kit (rommy, yugo, etc.), compliance parts, receiver flat, etc.

Links and prices would also be helpful.
This will be my first build, but I've already got my Romy G Kit on order with a compliance kit. Still need to get a flat and G2 FCG.
Anyway, while I was looking around, here is what I found:

    http://www.copesdist.com/:
Hungarian underfolder $265, Polish underfolder $280

https://www.apexgunparts.com/ This is who I used. Great customer service...
    Romy G Kits $135, Yugo M70 Fixed Stock $175-250

    http://dpharms.com/
    G kit w/G2 FCG $160, Polish underfolder $300.00

    http://www.classicarms.us/
    G kits $130, Rusty G Kit $100

    http://www.armsofamerica.com/partskits.html
    Hungarian uf $300, AMD65 $200.00, G Kit $115, G Kit w/Compliance $150

    http://www.jgsales.com/
    Hungarian Fixed Stock $240

I built a screw build Romy G on a NODAKSPUD reciever in the past year. Came out real nice. I went with the screw build because 1) I couldn't find anyone around who had the knowledge and 2) I didn't feel like spending more money on jigs, press, etc. than what I spent on the rifle. Most hard core ak enthusiasts frown on screws though.

Only suggestion I have is if your not worried to much on spending a little extra on a kit then I'd look out for a kit that has already been prepped for a build. Makes life much simplier. Saw one just the other day on a forum (don't remember which) for about $25 bucks more than the going price these days.

For compliance you'll have to have some US made parts thrown in. I went with a Tapco double hook FCG which gives you 3 parts plus a us promag which made up another 3. Reciever made 7. You could go with import mags but you'll need to make up the 3 parts so a us pistol grip, us muzzle, and us gas piston would take care of that.

    The Nasty New Orleans.
I have all the tools for building AKs.The flat binding jig.The plinkers 3 jig set.Spot welder .Wirefeed welder.A press.Adrill press And I even got a lathe if aneone wants a AK pistol.I have the tools covered.I even have bluing salts. To leagaly build a Ak 47 you must have 6 us made parts. You can get compliance kits from a lot of vendors online. For a rommy g build the tapco flats work without any modifications. The tapco FCG is the best(imo).Get your kit and your compliance parts and a flat.Add some sweat and BAM you have a AK-47 that will be the most reliable gun you will ever own.You will also need rivets and a center support.9.00 for the rivets and 5.00 for the support.
