Democrat Gov. John "Dumbell" Edwards is reinstituting a statewide mask mandate indoors for all people age 5 and older regardless of vaccination status.
"Louisiana is currently in the worst surge of Covid19."

Perhaps the surge has more to do with the mass influx of possibly infected illegal aliens bussed into Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport, Natchez and Monroe...

Or perhaps it's because we have one of the highest rates of "flat Earth society" anti-science proponents that have conflated vaccinations and masks with some sort of socialist plot to take over the world.

If the correlation between vaccines and masks, and the prevalence of COVID (especially the Delta variant) isn't plainly obvious, then I don't know what is.

Man, I hate to be the one to tell you this but the flu vs Covid-19 comparison really fell out of style.... See below(Source: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-vs-flu/art-20490339 )
"So far, more than 32 million people have had COVID-19 in the U.S. So far, more than 580,000 people have died of COVID-19 in the U.S. in 2020 and 2021.

By comparison, during the 2019-2020 flu season in the U.S., about 38 million people had the flu and about 22,000 people died of the flu."

Wrong there, bud. The virus attaches itself to droplets that get propelled out when you sneeze, cough, or spout your typical non-researched incorrect facts courtesy of that pretty blonde on Fox News. The problem with quarantining is that is only solves half of the problem. It only contains those who are visibly sick with symptoms. This virus can spread with folks who are completely asymptomatic and happily gathering together in large groups, still.

All I'll say is do your own research, looking at the science. You have been manipulated by large corporations in the last decades to ignore science, call them quacks, not trust the information they provide. This is especially true for tobacco companies "publishing their own studies." Whereas the folks who are publishing information (not at all related to the vaccine, mind you) have nothing to gain, and multiple documented sources to back up their claims. Right now, we have the worst possible wave of folks doing the wrong sorts of research. They get on google and type "Why don't masks work versus Coronavirus?" instead of "Mask effectiveness vs Covid-19." Then, they take information from the first result that links to a privately owned misinformation campaign and spout it out to all the people who will listen, who trust you. Then those people, trusting you've done your research because of your vitriol towards the topic, take it as gospel. They proceed to spread it again.

Also, guys. Please. For the love of God, do not take medicine designed for animals. Trust your doctor like you have all these years pre-covid. I can't believe I'm having to say, don't take a horse-dewormer...

Obviously you spend your time watching CNN and MSNBC and have bought in to the fear mongering they spew.

You wear all the masks you want, I don't care. Don’t think you or any politician have the right to tell others how to live their lives.
I have 0% trust in the information put out by our govt.
on this virus. You are just as irrelevant to me as the liberal idiot in our Governors mansion.

See, this is where we are failing as a community. I am a gun-loving, republican voting, trump loving, constitutional voting, christian, family man. We are on the same side when it comes to 99% of other topics, I'd wager. But, you've been taught that if anyone thinks different than you, they must be a democrat, liberal, facebook fear mongering, cnn watching fool. For the record, I don't watch or subscribe to any main-stream media outlets. I approached this topic with non-attacking, reasonableness and you come out swinging. Don't you see how you've been trained to attack anyone who has a different belief than you? Don't you see how easily you've been manipulated into ignoring science and listening to people who have no qualification to voice their opinions? Can't you understand that when it comes to the truth, typically it's somewhere in the middle of the argument? I hope you can see the error in your ways, man. For what it's worth, I don't want the government telling people how to live their lives either.

Here's where I stand . The wife and I have both been vaccinated . We are both over 60 yrs old and she has some underlying medical issues that could complicate things if she got sick . My Mother died from Covid related pneumonia last Thanksgiving . Several friends have died from it as well . I don't like wearing a mask but that's not the battle I'm going to choose to fight . I really hate that this has come to be a political issue but I blame both sides for that . I have never told anyone which side of the issue THEY should choose . You do you and I will accept it .

Well, that's no fun. You're supposed to get on here and tell everyone who disagrees with YOUR position that they're dead wrong, and you're much better informed than the dissenters. /s

Not buying any of those numbers. Plenty of threats to validity.

Straight from the fearmongering, Biden propaganda machine….
Even if I use Morgan City math…25x’s higher means unvaccinated survival rate is 99.97%. I’m happy taking my chances with my faith and the alternative protocols which, thus far, have had 100% efficacy.

Pulled your pics from the post, no sense in having that garbage posted twice. I agree there is some fear mongering going on courtesy of the left. I agree we should not live in fear from a virus that has a 99% survival rate. Which, is a little bit of a failed statistic in my eyes. Yes, you may not die 99% of the time from Covid, but we do not (still) know the long term effects of having the virus. Organ damage, covid brain, permanently reduced lung capacity, etc. 99% doesn't include the people who won't ever have the same quality of life again, but they are still alive right?

It's okay. No need to thank me for wearing my mask for 30 seconds while I enter the restaurant and the hostess seats me at a table. Just know, I've saved you all.

Ivermectin is a broad spectrum anti-parasitic agent, included in WHO essential medicines list for several parasitic diseases. It is used in the treatment of onchocerciasis (river blindness), strongyloidiasis and other diseases caused by soil transmitted helminthiasis. It is also used to treat scabies. Ivermectin is currently being investigated as a treatment for coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which is the virus that causes COVID-19. The FDA has not approved ivermectin for use in treating or preventing COVID-19 in humans (but they haven't approved the vaccine yet either).

My doc approves it and prescribes the pill version for those afraid to take the liquid or paste. I have used it on my dogs for heartworms for 25 years, and my vet takes it for Covid as well. But you do you.

    Ain't skeered!

We also don't know the long term effects of the vaccine, but new bad side effects seem to pop up every couple of days. And emergency FDA approval is not the same as the years of testing that goes into normal FDA approval. And even fully approved FDA drugs end up killing or debilitating people all the time. There are people who believe it's a big conspiracy but there are also people who just don't want to be experimented on with drugs that are being rushed to market.

Just a quick question about your line of thought. Aren't you also, technically, scared that the government is just trying to control you?

No. I am not scared. As I said, I will not and do not live in fear. Fear is the devil's playground. God is in control of everything. He has given me the FREEDOM to choose. I am in control of my choices and my actions. Nobody else is responsible for what I do except, "ME."

FWIW....I did not delete CNN statistics in an earlier post. It was a screenshot of an Ivermectin protocol from Eastern Virginia Medical School. If people look hard enough and think for themselves, they will find that there are beneficial prophylaxis and post exposure protocols that have proven high efficacy. Ask yourself, "Why doesn't Fauci and the CDC provide similar guidance?" The short answer, "there's no money to be made with Ivermectin, Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, Quercetin, Zinc and Melatonin." There is money to be made in the middle of chaos. Who is making it right now? Pfizer, AstraZeneca, J&J....although, J&J obviously has a lot of egg on their face.

The above protocol, although it hasn't been through the full "barrage" of clinical trials....neither have the vax's...only having received emergency use authorization. Nobody knows what the long term side effects for those are, either. I for one, will put my faith in HIS Truths....and not the government "truths" or so-called "science."

If you would like me to reword your question..."Do I think the government IS trying to control us and force us into submission?" The answer is, "Yes." Am I scared? - NO.
